While an undergraduate student at the University of Bridgeport I worked as a Chemistry Department Assistant and also assisted in the instructional aspect of the undergraduate chemistry laboratory classes. This was my first taste of teaching! I also participated in Outward Bound Program at University of Bridgeport for one summer as a Biology Laboratory Assistant where I acquired my second taste of teaching!  After graduation I worked in research as a physical science technician for the National Marine Fisheries Service in Milford, CT for a year.  Although I enjoyed doing research at NMFS, I enjoyed my teaching experiences more.

However, instead of working in research or teaching after leaving NMFS, I worked as a legal secretary at various law firms for the next 14 years.  Luckily I never lost sight of my scientific/teaching roots throughout those 14 years and in 2003, I decided to go back to school part-time to get my MS in Science Education at SCSU and to become a Biology teacher.  Since 2005 I've worked for several districts as a substitute teacher and at SSEA in New Haven, CT where I was a Science Camp Teacher/Counselor teaching marine science to middle school age children for one summer. I also worked one summer at the Upward Bound Program at Fairfield University as a Science Teacher teaching Biology, Environmental Science, Genetics and Forensics to inner city high school students.

From 2006 through 2008 I worked as a high school science teacher under a DSAP (Durational Shortage Area Permit) at an inner city high school in Bridgeport, CT. This was a very challenging position for me as I had never had the experience of student teaching, but since October I have been acquiring this experience in the middle school environment and I know that that can only make me a better teacher!  I acquired my Certification in Biology in June, 2009 and graduated with my masters in August, 2009.  Since graduating I have been substitute teaching again and looking for a full-time teaching position for the 2010-2011 school year.
