The internet contains many online websites that cover a variety of subjects that teachers can utilize to enhance the education of their students, including music, art, science and other subjects. All are user-friendly and many can be used directly by high school students as educational tools. "High School Ace - The Academic Homepage for High School Students" and "Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution" are only a few of the many websites that can be found on the internet. A review of these websites can be found by clicking on each of the above sites.
United Streaming by Discovery Learning is a useful website that teachers can use to show videos in their classrooms about a variety of subjects. This website provides lesson plans that correspond to the videos and teachers can sign up for a free 30-day trial.
There are many other educational websites that contain sample lesson plans for different subjects and grade levels, including Education-World.com, Teacher.net and others. Most lesson plan examples are formatted in Microsoft Word, but many include an interesting lesson plan format called a “WebQuest.” WebQuests are cross-curricular activities that require students to answer questions using information they find online. They are designed by educators who have incorporated computer technology into their classrooms. One such WebQuest lesson plan was created by the Education Department at Michigan State University and is entitled “Genetic Pedigree Webquest.”
